#GauriPujan #Ghavan Ghatle
Traditional recipe made in almost every household in Konkan. Every Koknastha Brahmin Family prepares this delicacy for the Jyeshtha (Elder) and Kanishtha(Younger) Gauri’s who come and stay with us at home in the form of two small stones that are collected from Sea/Riverside. They are given bath with warm water, worshiped and offered their Favourite Food (Naivedya as we call in Marathi). This tradition comes from a beautiful story of a poor Brahmin who meets Jyeshtha Gauri in the form of old lady.
Ghavan Ghatle is very Easy recipe that can be made with very few readily available ingredients.
Serves: 3
For the Ghavan(Measurements for 6 medium sized pancakes)
Take 1 and half cup of rice flour. Add Abt 2 and half cups of water to it. The batter shall be of medium consistency. Heat a non stick pan and pour the mixture on the tawa. Sprinkle some ghee on the sides. Flip when it turns light brown. Tip: Add a pinch of salt to the batter. In this recipe I have not added salt, as it is Naivedya in which we do not add salt.
For the Ghatla(sweet curry)
Take 4 cups of Homemade coconut milk add grated or finely chopped Jaggery to it and bring to boil on low flame. When the Jaggery melts add cardamom powder and put off the flame.
Serve and enjoy it together. Wish you all a very Happy Gauri Ganpati!
